I used NRS Design Studio to help design and decorate my new office space. I wanted a clean, professional look, but didn’t want it to look like every other doctor’s office. I initially met with Nadine for a consultation and she took the time to learn my vision for the office, what I would be doing with the space, and how I wanted people to feel while in it. She looked at what I had and showed me what was possible through pictures, samples, and sketches.

More than a decorator, Nadine is a designer. She figured out the best use of space and worked with the contractor to trouble-shoot details such as door swings and ceiling tracks. I knew I could trust Nadine to take care of the fine points because she is detail-oriented, using her tape measure and leveler rather than just eyeballing the placement of things. Also, she has extensive knowledge of building materials, paint, fabrics, and furniture and how they can be both functional and decorative.

Nadine is very easy to work with. She is diplomatic and approachable, never intimidating, and creative and resourceful, able to create an environment that fits within your budget. I love my new office and how my surroundings reflect who I am. Thank you, NRS!

I had the immense pleasure to work with Nadine Schmidt of NRS Design Studio.  She was amazing. I have been through two bathroom remodels by myself (you know the kind, get everything through Home Depot and do it yourself).  I realized I needed a designer’s help when I became frustrated with making constant decisions, such as what paint to pick, what faucets to choose, or what accessories to use.  The choices were overwhelming to say the least.  So instead of enjoying the process of getting a new bathroom, I was unhappy and frustrated about the whole situation.

I discovered Nadine and was amazed by her talent.  She was able to turn the dreaded kitchen remodel into a fun experience.  I was able to explain to her my vision and she was able to make it come alive.  She was there all the way through the remodel.  Nadine helped me figure out what type of kitchen I wanted, what color paint, and what kind of tile.  She continued to look at cabinet door styles long after my eyes glazed over; she was determined to get what I wanted.

One of the amazing things about Nadine is she is able to take your vision, your taste, and turn it into something spectacular.  Doing a remodel is very expensive and time-consuming.  There was no room in my budget for costly mistakes.  I was glad to have someone who was concerned about my budget, and making sure the project was done right.  If I ever have another remodel, I would not hesitate for a minute and I would hire Nadine.

The biggest challenge we had with our kitchen was trying to correct or move forward with mistakes or decisions we had already made before working with Nadine.  Being that this was our first remodel, we went about it entirely wrong.  Not realizing how helpful design services could be, we started everything on our own without putting together any sort of “vision” or direction.  Rather than have a design or look we were going for, we picked one thing at a time, each trying to fit with the last.  As we went along, it became more and more limiting as far as style, specs, etc; which then became more and more time consuming for us.  We had to literally shop everywhere looking for something to fit into something that was already installed.  We came across styles or looks that we would not have thought of on our own, but might have preferred had we hired Nadine earlier.

At the time we had brought Nadine in to “rescue” us, we had already picked out and installed our cabinets, bombed in the paint category, and were struggling to find the right granite.  We were happy with our cabinets, but our idea of adding a little color somewhere in a light sage green, ended up being a bright pistachio green!  We were trying to avoid going too dark, but ended up with the exact opposite.  My husband & I had brought home numerous paint swatches & even painted a few shade samples, but we just weren’t able to envision it in the entire room until it was already painted… We then struggled finding a nice granite to accompany the green.  Boy, was that wrong too!  Nadine had a challenge coming into our project, but she was patient and helped us focus on the most important part; finding the perfect granite and then picking paint colors from those tones.  The color undertones are not readily visible to everyone’s eye, especially ours, but she nailed it.

Overall, we were very pleased with the end result, but have definitely learned our lesson!!  In the future, we will be sure to use Nadine’s services from day one!  We could have saved months of time and frustration, and could have designed a kitchen maybe more unique or “outside of the box”.  That was what we were missing, we didn’t “design” our kitchen; we just went in and started building/installing.  We would definitely recommend her!
